Independence

Scotland is at a turning point. After eight years of devolution, the Scottish people voted to move forwards, with fresh thinking and a new approach from an SNP government.

The government has published a white paper setting out a vision of independence and responsibility in the modern world. As well as making clear that the SNP believes independence and equality offers the best future for Scotland, those who believe in other possibilities, such as more powers, are also urged to come into the conversation.

You can also read about the benefits that independence would bring to individuals, families and communities across Scotland and find out how independence has helped other countries like Ireland and Norway become modern day success stories. Click on the links on the left hand side of your screen.

Finally, you can read a little bit about why others support independence. Hundreds of thousands of Scots believe it's time to take Scotland forward. We're proud to present the views of some of those who want our country to progress and take a fresh direction.
